Our wines are made with grapes grown in the Grand Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA) on the western
slope of Colorado. The Grand Valley AVA is a unique place for grape growing, where water originates from fresh snow melt in a state that has over 300 days of sunshine annually. Here in the Rocky Mountains, the warm, dry days enable the grapes to ripen and mature, while the cool nights allow them to retain the natural acidity that is so important for making wines with structure and balance. The grapes are grown in a mixture of sandy loam, clay and alluvial silt, which provides unique mineral characteristics in the wines, an expression of the soil in which they grow (click here to learn more about the terroir of Colorado wines). We grow two cold-hardy varietals, La Crescent and Baco Noir, in our estate vineyard in Grand Junction, and we source the other grapes, Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling, from local growers in the neighboring town of Palisade. Along with these diverse varietals, we craft a Vintner's Blend (a combination of our Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah) and a rosé-style Tulip (a combination of our Merlot of Riesling). 


In making our wines we strive to create flavors that are a reflection of the high altitude vineyards in which the grapes are grown. We produce elegant and balanced wines, using both French and American oak barrels during the aging process; enough oak to add nuance and spice to the wines but not so much that the fruit flavors are diminished. Every day we feel blessed to live and work in such a beautiful place, and the wines we craft are a sublime reminder of the natural beauty of the Grand Valley.
